Reappointed to New Jersey-Israel Commission
Governor Corzine Appoints
Lawrence Mandel
Attorney Lawrence Mandel, Lakewood, a partner in the law firm of Mandel & Peslak, Freehold, has been reappointed to the New Jersey-Israel Commission by Governor Jon S. Corzine of New Jersey. Mandel, whose practice focuses on intellectual property law, including prosecution, licensing, and litigation in connection with trademarks; copyrights and patents; franchises and franchising; entertainment law; and Internet and computer law, among others, will serve on the subcommittee on Economic Development and Bilateral Trade. Other subcommittees are education, and culture and tourism.
According to information on the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth & Tourism Web site, “The New Jersey Israel Commission was created to foster increased economic, scientific, educational, and cultural relations with the State of Israel, one of the Garden State’s most important trading partners. Israel is New Jersey’s 4th largest export market, with a total of $938 million in goods sent there in 2003 alone. In all, more than 40 Israeli companies have facilities in New Jersey, directly employing over 1,000 people.”
Mandel graduated with honors from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, in 1989. He is a member of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York bars; the American Bar Association, Section of Intellectual Property Law, and Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries; and the Philadelphia and New Jersey State Bar Associations. Mandel is a member of Corporate Resource Alliance, and he is the chair of the Government Liaison Subcommittee of the Technology Committee of the MODC (Monmouth Ocean Development Council).
